Shell House

Woods Bagot together with Buildcorp have transformed an icon building in Sydney CBD into four exciting hospitality spaces called Shell House. We breakdown the fabrics used in their latest project.

'Shell House is a journey upward through four innovations on Australian hospitality– each mixing sophistication, spontaneity, and theatricality into new genres of inner-city escapism. It’s the new centre of gravity for a city coming back to life.' - Woods Bagot

There are a variety of tonal textures in the Dining Room, including marble flooring, murals, stucco walls and bespoke furniture, upholstered using a range of our fabrics. The booth seating use our Costa fabric in Linen, Charcoal and Terractotta for added dimension. Costa offers a vintage aesthetic with a refined urban twist, making it the perfect choice for this hospitality space. They finished off the look with our 100% linen Como cushions.

The original 400-ton famous clock now houses the new Clocktower Bar. The bar's interior is decorated with timber joinery to represent the grandeur and history of the 1930s Art Deco era.The towering emptiness of the clocktower above, together with the fully restored and functional clock movements, elevate and energise the space.

The chairs use our Victory fabric in Copper which provide soft sumptuous texture and commercial grade durability due to its FR rating. Victory features a fine chenille contraction with the ability to absorb and reflect light making it perfect for statement pieces.

Moving out onto the Terrace Bar, the outdoor lounges feature our Mauritius and Mykonos fabrics. Mauritus a dual-purpose SUNDEC fabric that is perfect for furniture located in both indoor and outdoor environments. Featuring a soft dry handle, this bold reversible fabric offers a beautifully textured finish. With a solution-dyed Olefin construction and exceptional colourfastness to protect against UV rays, Mauritius is the ideal choice for the robust nature of outdoor settings and high traffic areas.

Similarly, Mykonos presents a multi textured organic look that is casual yet durable enough to be used outdoors due to its SUNDEC qualities.
