A fabric and upholstery protector that repels liquids and resists dirt.

TexDefend Fabric & Upholstery Protector

Everyday use can take a toll on our favourite fabrics. From accidental spills on the couch to dirt and moisture on frequently used upholstery, keeping textiles looking their best can be a challenge. While regular cleaning is essential, taking a preventative approach can help maintain the appearance and longevity of your fabrics.

TexDefend Fabric & Upholstery Protector offers a simple, effective way to protect your textiles from everyday spills and soiling. Australian-made and non-toxic, its advanced formula creates a clear, breathable protective layer that repels liquids and resists dirt, helping keep your fabrics looking their best for longer.

What Makes TexDefend Fabric & Upholstery Protector Different?

TexDefend uses hydrophobic and oleophobic technology to help protect fabrics against water and oil-based liquids. Rather than allowing spills to immediately penetrate the fibres, the protective coating helps repel liquids, giving you more time to attend to accidental spills before they become difficult to remove.

Unlike coatings that may alter the appearance of textiles, TexDefend dries to a clear, undetectable finish. Its breathable formula allows fibres to continue to breathe and aerate while providing an added layer of protection against everyday use.

With a non-toxic, mould-resistant formula, TexDefend offers a practical way to help preserve the appearance and extend the lifespan of your textiles.

Everyday Protection for a Variety of Fabrics

Fabric protection isn't just for the living room. From furniture and soft furnishings to everyday accessories, TexDefend can be used across a wide range of suitable textiles throughout the home and beyond.

Couches, upholstered chairs, curtains, carpets and rugs can all benefit from added protection, particularly in areas exposed to frequent use. TexDefend is also suitable for compatible fabrics used in car seats, pet bedding, clothing, footwear and bags.

For upholstered furniture, focus on the areas that experience the most contact, such as seats, seat backs and armrests. Treating these high-use surfaces can provide targeted protection without needing to coat the entire piece.

Always check the fabric's care instructions and TexDefend's usage restrictions before applying.

A Clear, Breathable Layer of Protection

One of the key benefits of TexDefend is its ability to protect fabrics without compromising their appearance.

The formula creates an invisible protective layer that helps repel moisture and resist dirt penetration while allowing the textile fibres to breathe. This makes it a practical addition to regular fabric care, particularly for furniture and soft furnishings that are used daily.

By reducing the penetration of everyday spills and soiling, TexDefend can help make ongoing maintenance easier and support the longevity of your favourite textiles.

How to Use TexDefend Fabric & Upholstery Protector

For the best results, TexDefend should always be applied to clean, dry fabric. Proper preparation and application will help ensure an even protective coating.

Pre-Test Before Use

Always test a small, inconspicuous area before treating the entire surface. Apply the spray, then dab the area with a white microfibre cloth to check for colour transfer. Allow the test area to dry completely and check for any changes in appearance. If prominent colour transfer or changes occur, discontinue use.

Step 1: Prepare the Surface

Vacuum the fabric to remove any loose dust and dirt. Ensure the surface is completely clean and dry before applying the protector.

Step 2: Apply TexDefend

Holding the bottle approximately 20cm from the fabric, spray evenly across the surface until fully dampened, taking care not to saturate the material or allow the formula to pool.

For fibrous textiles, gently work the solution into the material using a soft-bristled brush.

Step 3: Allow to Dry and Cure

TexDefend becomes touch dry in approximately two hours. However, allow at least 24 hours for the fabric to fully dry and cure before use.

Reapply when the protective coating begins to deteriorate or after the fabric has been washed or dry-cleaned, provided the textile is suitable for treatment.

How Much TexDefend Do You Need?

TexDefend has an approximate coverage rate of 60–100mL per square metre, depending on the fabric and application.

As a guide, one 500mL bottle can treat approximately two to two-and-a-half couch seats.

For efficient application, prioritise high-contact areas such as seat cushions, seat backs and armrests rather than treating the entire piece of furniture.

Which Fabrics Are Suitable for TexDefend?

While TexDefend is suitable for a variety of upholstery and textiles, some materials require special consideration.

TexDefend should not be used on jute, silk or fibres that naturally develop watermarks when exposed to moisture. It is also unsuitable for textiles labelled 'Dry Clean Only'.

The formula is safe for use on suitable wool fabrics; however, because wool is naturally water-resistant, the effectiveness and coverage of the treatment may vary.

Do not dilute TexDefend with water or combine it with other waterproofing products. Always follow the product's application instructions and pre-test before use.

Caring for Your Fabrics with TexDefend

Protecting your textiles is an important part of maintaining their appearance over time. While fabric protection doesn't replace regular cleaning or the need to attend to spills promptly, it can provide an additional layer of defence against everyday wear and soiling.

With its clear, breathable finish, liquid-repellent technology and easy application, TexDefend Fabric & Upholstery Protector is a practical addition to your fabric care routine, helping preserve the appearance of your favourite textiles for longer.
